im a morning person
...i have my kids signed up for am classes for school next year.
i didnt think teice about it.
i was an early bird, my kids will be early birds.
and then...i met a mom at gymnastics (who was hella cool) and we started to talking about school yadda yadda..she said , the pm moms are way more laid back. i was like...humm...that makes sense.
then..my good friend amanda (shes a teacher) told me she had unfortunatly gotten pm one year, but then she said it was a "blessing in disguise" because the moms were more involved. most of them were stay at home moms. they werent in a rush to get in and out. they planned field trips..crafts, funtions,. etc etc..(rock on!)
and then...i had the same conversation with another mom at the park. "less type A moms are in the pm."
ok, not that im not a type "A' person. however...im constantly battling my genetics and searching for my type "b" personality, and when it pops up, i beg it to stay! itd like to think im a good balance between a and b, and maybe some c.
in a world thats so fast paced and crazy, i think it would be nice to slow down for a bit. and let me tell you, i get sucked in. i mean..look! i didnt even give PM the blink of an eye! the craziness sneaks up eventually..might as well avoid it as long as possible.
anyhow...the thought of putting my kids in pm , which seemed like such a lazy option months ago, seems pretty cool right now.
besides, we can still do dance and gymnastics in the mornings. cuddle, take long baths, watch cartoons, take our time cooking pancakes together (it gets messy and crazy!), braid hair, get coffee, bagels, gather (and finish) homework, find missing shoes, and just downright CHILL until its time for school at 11:15 or whatever it is.
and thenthe stores are all open by then (you would be amazed at how nothing around here is open early) and i can run errands!! yay! child-free errands!! ooooooh i cant wait!!! goodness!! i just cant wait for that!
or...i could eat lunch ALONE in our awesome little flafal shop and READ A BOOK!!!! holy shit that would be amazing! and i will have time to work! on my computer ! not for 10 minutes here and there throughout the day..but for like...hours! HOURS! holy crap. then i wont have to get to work when the kids go to bed. which means...more time with my honey b!! aaahhhhh.... well...either way. i will have 2 1/2 hours ALL TO MYSELF next year, twice a week! (while avery is in preschool). cant you tell..im STOKED.
thanks for listening to me ramble. much love.

dance baby dance
ive never been a ballet/tap kinda gal, but my daughter is.
I embraced her love of pink tu tu's and hand-me-down tap shoes 3 sizes too big , and enrolled her in dance at the age of 2.
The confidence she exudes at dance unbelievable. this is the girl who is afraid to ring the doorbell at a new friends house, the girl who cries at soccer when someone rips her flag off (you know..like flag football), the girl on the couch at the bday party for the first 15 mintues..afraid to move, . but ,not on that stage.
As the year winds down, her teacher suggested I put her in the "performing company" class next year. since she "loves to dance, and has a knack for memorizing choreography". Registration was over a month ago. i havent done a thing. besides, she will be in kindergarten next year, i want her to try softball, maybe girl scouts...learn how to ride the dirt bike! .i dont know. weve just been waiting...
But..she loves it. she loves it.. soo....i look up this "performing dance company" info..and this is what i find....
ok, now besides the creepy picture...
"Summary of General Expenses in addition to monthly tuition:
TDA Warm-ups – Approximately $150-250
Costumes - $150-$200 each. Each dancer is cast in approximately 2 dances. Some will be cast in more than 2 dances. The minis are only cast in 1 company dance for their first year.
June Concert Costumes: Dancers will have a ballet, tap, and jazz costume from “technique” classes for the June Concert. You may choose to buy none or all of those costumes. Most dancers choose to do all dances in the concert. These costumes are generally between $75 and $100 each.
Shoes, tights, accessories, make-up – Depending upon group, see Tiffany’s Dancewear for general pricing.
Convention/Competitions – Three at the approximate cost of $250 per dancer. ”Minis” participate in only one convention.
Competitions – 1-2 at the approximate cost of $60-90 per dancer.
Nutcracker Performance – Costumes for the Nutcracker are approximately $80-$100 per dance. There are additional tuition costs for the rehearsal classes."
damn...$$$$ uh..girl scouts is free.

avery chronicles
so, the kids (june, clo, and avery) are all laying on their bellies in the sun after some slip n slide action..and avery just decides to get up...spit on junipers back, lean over and spit on chloe's back.
ok ,. so , i grab him, put him in a chair outside, and tell him to sit there in time out.
after a few minutes, i go back over to the chair,
"avery. its not nice to spit on people. juniper and chloe dont like it when you spit on them. Would you like it if someone spit on you?"
his reply,
"ya, i love spit on me."
he leans over, spits a mass amount of saliva onto his own leg, "see..spit on my leg. i love spit!"
and he leans over again, and proceeds to lick it off his own leg.
..and..ya..um....he's not joking. hes totally into it. so, the whole me-teaching-him- to-feel-compassion-thing(about other people not liking being spit on), hes just not gonna quite get that yet i dont think .
That was yesterday. Today he climbed out his bedroom window because he didnt want to take a nap...( i stood outside his bedroom door for a bit, and thought, wow, hes being so good. not a peep! ...and i could go on and on about that whole situation today.
