my honey was out of town, so i decided to treck down south to visit pammy and Lo. It was a nice 6-7 hour trip.
I was really worried the car wouldnt make it. Weve had a blown head gasket for a bit now, and we have yet to treck over the grapevine. but.. hey.. im always down for an adventure!
we played hookie from school on friday and were off! we stopped at rest stops along the way to run around and get stuff out of "those big black machines that give you candy and coffee"
Avery was soooo into the vending machines. When i would say "theres another rest stop up ahead! they would get so excited! Thats the good thing about depriving your kids of sweets and sodas! its the most excciting thing in the world when you let them pick whatever they want out of the big black magical machines.
ive sworn im keepin it real road trip style . no video games or DVD playes. i think our youth are loosing their ability to "just be"
we counted jeeps and motorcycles along the way. juniper didnt take a nap the whole way beacause ...
"but ive never seen this place before. its beautiful!" (all the cherry blossoms were in bloom in the orchards.)
i was just happy to be in the car with my kids.. undivided attention for hours. we just talked and sang songs.
the highlight of our trip was going over the grapevine. i dont know what juniper expected, but she was definitely excited about it (picking up on my anxiety perhaps over the pass) .
and... we made it....
rainforest cafe! thank you pammy and lo for dinner!
avery! give me that camera back!
