It was one of the biggest wind storms ever! Trees went down all over the area. so scary! We had no power for 3 days. It ended up being quite the adventure, and as juni said "the best time shes ever had at the cabin" =) We huddled up around the gas heater and had an attic party. puzzles, games, bbqin.

Sure, I could have a freshly repaired/remodeled bathroom.. (which sounded pretty awesome this morning, as we all hovered over one sink.)
And, yes, I could have bought my room & board to Costa Rica, (leaving my family behind), to see my brother get married.

There are a lot of things I could have done with the money I had saved up.

Instead, we surprised the kids, & took our first real family vacation!! (6 whole days!!!!)... and I wouldn't trade a single minute of it for anything else in the world.

Avery won't always look into the sky when we say, "There's Tinker Bell!", or be scared of the "man eating Piranas" on the Jungle Cruise.
Juni's eyes won't always light up, as big as they do now, at the sight of the Castle. She won't always want to hold my hand.

I soaked in every beautiful moment. **sigh*** I am truly grateful for this life, and I will not let it pass me by!!

Even though you were such a little shit, and you tried to attack and bite my kids every time they walked by, and you peed on everything. i will still miss you.

Senior year, I will never forget the day my boyfriend came home from work at Castelwood. He had found a baby kitten in the back of a golf cart. A little lone kitten with an umbilical cord still hanging off.

Brandon made sure mama cat was not coming back for you, checked in hour after hour throughout the work day. Alas, you were still there at the end of 8 hours. all alone. He brought you home. we named you "Lucky"

You were one lucky cat. Even the vet said you might not make it. I brought you to Fenders. I brought you to Las Po. We couldnt leave you for more than a moment. . we bottle fed you every half hour. we wiped your butt with a cotton ball to get you to poo. We stayed up all night long for weeks. Brandon slept with his hand hanging off the side of his bed into a cardboard box ... nestled in his warm, big, hand was the only way you would sleep without crying all night.

My mom said "He is going to be the best dad someday" . she was right.

rest in peace Lucky. You were our first baby together.

Man, when I was her age, I was begging my mom to make me a chicken costume (which she did. and it was awesome.) I would love to find a pic of that! Then I was a mouse, and then I was a peacock. I made that myself with feathers from my peacock. (NO, i did not pull his feathers out, they shed them every year! ) I dont know how to handle this whole girlie girl thing. It kinda freaks me out.

She really loves the "Cheshire cat" one too (doesnt look like a cat to me), so .. thats the one. and its cute.. I guess.

She got upset when I said "but it doesnt even look like a cat!? I can make you a furry cat costume!?? it would be soooo cute! " and she said "fine, why dont you and daddy just pick out my costume for me then!. " =(

Ya, I know this trip was a while ago, but im still relishing the moments of summer....

and I literally just looked at this pics for the first time.

Brandon has been working crazy long days. & I had 6 weddings this month.

Its that time of year where I feel sucked into the rat race. the weddings. the work. the parties. the HW, the emails. soccer. dance. the stuff. I start to question our way of life. I start researching "yerts" and dream of living on the farm. I dream of simpler times. And then I have to remind myself its temporary. This time of year is crazy. Its temporary.

My kids are right here in front of me, yet I miss them every day. Wishing and hoping for more minutes at the end of each night. more connections. more eye contact. Im yearning for some cozy mellow nights at home. family dinners with daddy home. This is the time of year where I start to crack. I start to feel disconnected. the world starts spinning all around me. I can see my kids growing before my very eyes, and I just want to grab onto them, and freeze time.

we need a family vacation & im gonna make it happen.

Juniper had one wish this summer, to go to the beach. I will keep my promise. I will take my kids to the beach. Yes, summer may be over, & its definitely not Costa Rica (we are not going), the weather may not be perfect,it might just be a few days, the school may not be too happy, the little bathroom is still out of order, there are trees & wisdom teeth that need to be removed, but..we have a reliable car, a roof rack, & its off peak pricing! & my family comes before everything and anything. isnt that why we are working so hard for in the first place? for us? I think we deserve a beach/hotel vacay!

For years, most days went something like this..

Starting a business was hard. There were many days I felt like quitting. I just wanted to be a mom.
But I was always afraid to take my foot out of the door, because i knew this day would come, and it would all be worth it.

For the first time in over 8 years, I will have more than 5 hours a day to myself. Its very bittersweet.

I am looking forward to getting my work done during the day, & staying off this damn thing once the kids are home.

But, I know I will miss my alone time with my little guy terribly.

"I am sad for tomorrow. I wont get to see you all day" , said my little guy, with heavy eyelids, after butterfly & eskimo kisses. And then ten regular hugs & kisses, followed by one more kiss for luck. "no.. just one more.. one more mommy!" =(

First off.. I would like to thank my dear friend for her amazing generosity by giving me a buddy pass to fly (I heart you tara!!!). I, in return, of course bought her A HUGE glass of wine at the airport. Next thing we knew, our names were being called on the loud speaker... which was pretty awesome. hehe. Thats just how Tara likes to roll.

Spent a whole day at the beach. AMAZING. rode the roller coaster, ate, drank, ate some more.. packed&hungover the next day, and the third day.. we returned with our best friend Daniel in tow. SCORE!

my only complaint.. the trip was too short lived!

woke up early & headed out to the orchards for fathers day.. which was so freakin fabulous! Its something we have always wanted to do, and we finally did! yay for brandons day off!! woohooO!

. Then it was off to baba and papas for a BBQ. Man how I love it out there. It had been almsot 2 months since we were out on the farm! woah how time flies for a busy family of four. you have no idea!!

the smell , the sounds (or lack of), the warm breeze against my face, sitting on the cool brick steps of the shady porch staring out at the blue sky and hills...the sound of the cock in the distance (hehe) .

Kids were standing around the front of the school chanting "summer! summer!" and then they rang the real big bell & all the kids went psycho!

The day was filled with lots of hugs, fun, water fights, popsicles, yearbook signings, face painting, & pictures with friends. Even the crossing guard had a little present for Avery and asked to take a pic with the kids. People honked and waved as they drove by. it was like out of a movie or something.

I cant believe I have 3rd & 1st graders!!! every year seems to go faster than the last. And every year I think.. this year cant possible be as amazing than the last. Yet every year we are blessed with incredible teachers . I am going to miss them dearly. And, as Juniper said last night "I already miss them" =( awwww.

Cheers to summer break!!! we celebrated report cards with candy and curly fries from Jack in the box! =)

Between the tom boy I once was, and my skateboarding/soccerplaying/snowboarding//golfing/Icandoanything hubby of mine...I thought for sure we would have crazy sports kids. I mean, thats just what you do growing up in Pleasanton. You play sports!

And then I gave birth to the most beautiful little thing to ever touch down on the planet. My quite, caring, kind, little girl. She loves to paint, read, write, sew, sing, dance, draw.

She is such a coordinated kid , but so cautious and timid... i love this gentleness about her so much, & to be honest, I am very grateful she is not like I was when I was little. haha! But, of course I wanted her to play softball! We had a blast last year, but.. I was surprised when she asked to play again this year. Yes, she begs to practice all day long, but on the field, she would shut down.

This year was all about building confidence. We just told her she was the best. And.. well.. turns out she is. =) Two girls from each team are chosen to play in the all star game. Last night she rocked it! I think pitching is her niche. which works out great, cause I was a catcher. =)

carpet leading to the backyard = no bueno.

this.. this right here.. is a dream come true...

The little bathroom was leaking sewage up the toilet & had water seaping through the wall from a leaky pipe. (groossss!! )...which is no problem if you have a mallot & a contractor telling you where the studs are.. "ok.. hit there!" The vanity was beyond repair.. practically crumbled off the wall. =(

it was actually really fun to demo the bathroom. The dry wall behind it (that connects to the other bathroom) is still pretty moldy and rotten, and will eventually have to go too.. but , one wall at a time.

The little bathroom is out of order for a while, and .. i didnt realize how much we actually used that damn bathroom until it was gone! The four of us, with one sink, and one electric toothbrush (with interchangeable heads!) , is a pretty priceless scene.

awww man, what a crazy last couple weeks! Its definitely wedding & golf season!! I am three weddings deep, & My hubby worked 8 days in a row, & then put in a floor (with our good friend who is a kick ass contractor. lucky us!) & fixed our toilet (yuk) on his only day off. Man, I am so lucky to have such a hard working guy! He got a break Monday, so we had a BBQ with friends for memorial day.

The rain is crazy weird, and we have a few more T-ball games (make up games from the rain !!) and Juniper's all star game Saturday. please please please dont rain and get rescheduled. Its my last free Saturday until October!! I have to be at that game!!

But, this year I am feeling more and more confident in my skills, and the bills are finally getting easier to pay. There is a bitter sweetness that goes along with this time of year.
